More Ebola news: What you aren't being told

I just read that the infected doctors will be flown here to the US and treated in Atlanta. This is scary to even think

about. How is this a good idea exactly? You can't treat them there and not risk a huge outbreak? Come on?

Read the article and watch the video here.

Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

From what I understand they will be testing a vaccine on these people. It's worth it. The infected doctors will certainly be quarantined. I worry more about regular people flying in and out who have no idea that they are infected.

Yep, that doctor is from my state of Indiana. I heard that the CDC has made a special isolation tank for him and a private jet, but for Pete's sake, why bring that virus to United States soil, when we don't have a cure for it yet. I think we're all going to be doomed.

This virus scares the hell out of me. Always has ever since I saw that Discovery channel special called plague fighters or something like that. I hope they stop this outbreak soon, it's getting really scary.

You're blowing this out of proportion. People who treat Ebola victims often catch the virus because they're in close contact with bodily fluids, which is what really spreads the virus. However, you could sit on a 15 hour flight with someone who's infected and never get infected yourself if they're not coughing, vomiting, or taking a dump on you.

Plus, these doctors are both being transported in quarantine tanks in the plane. They'll then be isolated in quarantine tanks in hospitals near the CDC, and they won't have any contact with other human beings in quarantine. The thought is that they're testing a vaccine on them before they start running larger trials on the vaccine in September. The vaccine has shown results in primates before now.

The transmission risk is low, and Ebola isn't going to spread in the United States because of this. There has been tons of news related pieces going out about these doctors being flown into the US, so it's not like the government is trying to hide that fact.

If the vaccine works on these doctors, then we have a cure for Ebola. They've been developing it for years, so I hope it works.

    Also, Ebola doesn't create zombies.

Hopefully, they'll develop a vaccine that works. I'm not sure how they exactly develop a vaccine, considering it's injecting a weakened version of the virus; Ebola isn't exactly easy going.

Lets hope everybody knows what they are doing.. I believe there was a scare in London at Heathrow airport last night and 7 suspected cases in the Philippines.. Would anybody take a vaccine if it was offered to them?

    Hi all,

I agree - this is really scary news. Health officials state that Ebola can only be transmitted through the contact of bodily fluids, surfaces and Bush meat. At present, flights in and out of these areas have not been banned, and as you say - now infected Doctors are being flown out to be treated. It is known that if a person sneezes on a bus or a plane, particles of that sneeze will reach at least half of the other unfortunate passengers who are sitting in nearby proximity. I have to say, why the hell is more not being done? The number of infected patients is almost at 900, and it is rapidly rising.

Hopefully, the World Health Organization will tighten the rules before the disease has chance to mutate!

The CDC can handle this. The US Army has been studying hemorrhagic fevers since the 50's and as a result has enhanced protocols for dealing with it. Remember that the US has kept smallpox cells in containment for ages. I wouldn't worry about it.
