    Gross lyrics in rap

When I was younger, all I cared about really was the beat. If it made me want to dance, that was all that mattered. Now that I am older, I like listening to the lyrics way more. I like to hear the rapper's story. Drake "Started from the Bottom" is one. I wish rap had categories and radio stations could play one kind or the other. But now, you hear some decent music and then BLAM you're hearing a song about somebody's explicit sexual exploits. Ugh!

I know I'm missing out on some good music because I don't want to hear the trash.

Exactly. There has been plenty of times when I had the radio on with my kids in the car and some crud comes on the radio. Having to switch the station quickly or turn the volume down as fast as I can because it's just too much.

Actually there are a lot of diamonds in the rough. Most of these artists do not necessary indulge in such an explicit lifestyle described on a song. It's basically done to appease record labels and appeal to a broad audience through over sexualize lyrics lace with violent imagery. This isn't the case for all rappers. It's only what the radio is playing. You can find many songs without unpleasant imagery online if you were to search for an artist work not found on radio. Even when you buy their albums, you will hear these songs that will never be release as a single.

I quite like it if i'm in the mood. Songs like Motivation by Kelly Rowland are so sexual, but if you're in the mood for a song like that it's good to hear.

    Yup.
Generally I'm not a huge fan of how sexual songs are getting. I'm not an old geezer about it, but some songs just go too far now. It's not a big deal though, I just switch to another channel. If I'm not listening to the radio, I don't have the problem at all.

That depends on the person. What you find gross and offensive might not bother me at all and vice-versa. What is noise pollution to some might be the best beats in the world to another.

Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I've never let any of that stuff bother me. Oh, The Weeknd is talking about eating pussy again? Big deal, they're just words. I hope I never get offended by lyrics when I get older.

I'd say we've gotten to the point where our kids are desensitized to violence, lyrics and whatnot. They are smart enough to know better. People a decade younger than me are smarter than I ever was at that age. We have evolved when it comes to knowing that music is not to be taken too seriously.

I guess kids today have no choice but to be desensitized. I don't know if it makes them smarter or not. But I suspect they probably only care about the rhythm at this point and laugh at the lyrics just as I did.

Beats are most important now a days. But without lyrics there isn't a song to me

Well yeah, but I think the internet has played a role in making stuff less impacting on the youth, because they don't worship people like they did back in the day when radio and TV was still relevant and they'd sit there for hours waiting for their favorite rapper's songs, as opposed to Googling the song you wanna hear.

Gross lyrics are the best lyrics. If someone listens to something explicit and then takes those lyrics to heart, then the music isn't what's corrupting them. They've already been corrupted along the way. Plus, I haven't heard anything truly gross or shocking in rap lyrics for years.

Explicitly sexual lyrics have never had any effect on me. The ones which I find disturbing though are blasphemous lyrics and anytime I hear such lyrics I make a point never to listen to that artist's music ever again.

Blasphemous? Which song are you referring too?

Anyway, I also have no problem with songs that are sexual in nature, and I think that 20 years from now I will still have no problem with them.
