What Is The Significance Of Your Tattoos

I have always been wondering why so many artists, especially blacks, have a knack for tattoos. I personally find it repulsive. But more and more artists seem to find some joy in tattoos, even the whites. What is the essence of these tattoos?. Is it only to make you unique or does it have a special meaning to you.

I have two tattoos, I am not an artist, not in the sense of rapping anyhow. The one behind my shoulder is the eye of horus and I got that one when I was 17 and was deep into Egyptology. The hieroglyph means awareness and has some sort of mathematical equation that I haven't memorized.

My second one, well, not too happy about it since I got it when I was 24 on my lower back and it's some artwork that I drew up myself. Now at the ripe old age of 34 I've got what is known as a "tramp stamp". Not too much of a good look.

I'm scared of needles. But I would love to get a tattoo, I think it would look awesome. Especially on my lower back. @DoulaChic79 what is a tramp stamp? You got me curious? Maybe I should tat myself up like Cashis

A 'tramp stamp' means any tattoo on the lower middle of the back. It's not a nice name for it really and not sure how it came about. I think that is the problem with a lot of tattoo's, overtime certain types that get overused get a bad rap.

I don't have any but have thought about it, it's just hard to decide on something that I will not regret one day. I am always interested in people stories behind why they got certain tattoo's though so I like this thread.

Kind of a funny way to frame your question no?
Why do you think black people are more attracted to tattoos than white people are? What are you basing yourself on to make this claim?

Well I don't have a tattoo but was going to get one in the past if we had the sages that were able to do them. Its called a yant a tattoo that gives you neat spiritual powers. Too bad I am over that fad and not interested in that kind of thing anymore. I wonder what happens when you don't want to see them anymore I am sure it will cost a few dollars to remove them an a lot of pain.

I currently have no tattoos but I plan on getting many in my lifetime. I say that the body is a temple... Paint the walls!
