    Ice Cube Was a Poser?

When you listen to any Ice Cube song, he's always talking tough but is he really what he pretends to be?

Some people think he's just another of those phony rappers who think they'll earn respect by presenting themselves to their fans as 'true gangstas.'

    The article is very enlightening.

Since 1987 his life has been one large act all at the expense of his audience who naively takes what he says as gospel. All the while he laughs his way to the bank while denying any accountability for his dangerous music.
Funny it took most people a really long time to learn that.
Cube's gangsta fairy tale of being an original gangster, ex convict, gangbanger never ends.
Why should rappers pretend to be what they are not?

I don't know what exactly is the truth but I honestly don't mind either way. If he makes good music then he is a good musician by me. I mean, I don't exactly expect every singer of all the love songs to really mean what they sing nor do I find it a requirement that they have their heart broken. As long as they are able to convey the emotion as realistically as possible then it's fine by me.

He may have sold out, but he was pretty hilarious in 22 Jump Street with Tatum and Hill.

    So what makes you tougher?

    Killing someone for street cred?

It's kind of hard to record from prison.

Maybe we should be PROUD that they only talk tough but aren't actually out there killing people 24/7? lol

The problem you see, is, there are many impressionable kids out there who want to act tough. Like their favorite idols. Now thing is, by pretending to be what you're not, you're leading such kids astray and you should be held responsible for that. Why not just make good music without pretending to be a 'killer,' gang member or something like that?

Most musicians make money simply because their music is good. Not because they robbed a bank or did any other illegal thing.

Who cares if Ice Cube was a poser or not? He's a black man that takes care of his family, makes ridiculous money and stays out of jail. All I see is success.

Plenty of entertainers in other genres besides rap come out posing as if they are one thing or another to attract a fan base. It's all smoke and mirrors. This truth also applies to actors/actresses pretending to be a certain way in order to stay popular.

So, I do not judge Ice Cube. At least he got paid to be fake. How many of us go to a 9 to 5 and smile in our bosses faces while all of the time wishing we could quit or choke their necks? It's called playing the game until you can call the shots.

Cube is real. He was one of the original Gs who made gangster rap what it is today. I don't think he's fake, because back in the days you had to proof you were real and not talking out of your ass.

I have always felt that Ice cube keeps it real, I do not think that he tries to pretend to be what he is not, he is what he says he is.

Respect is earned and not gained by being a gansta rapper. You don't earn respect from carrying a gun, talking trash etc. You earn from the way that you carry yourself and conduct your life. I'd rather have earned respect from someone than have them like me.

I think Ice Cube, like most people, simply evolved into a man. In his youth, I feel certain he did experience a number of tragedies related to his socio-economic condition. As he got older and realized his career could bring a more positive note into his life, he went into a more clean direction. I don't think he sold out, I think he grew up.
