    Facebook and phone addiction

Does anybody else think this Facebook and phone chatting has gone a little too far? I mean, i know people who live inside Facebook and inside their phones. The other day i was walking up some stairs to my friends apartment and a girl passed me by chatting on her cellphone on her way down. I told her that she should stop chatting and wait till she got downstairs because she might trip and fall. The girl didn't even hear me. She was so hypnotized with her phone, that apparently the whole world around her didn't exist. Do you think this has become an adiction?

I'm often concerned that I'll get in a wreck while driving from being on facebook or my phone. I have to mindfully tell myself each time I get in the vehicle to wait it out until I arrive where I'm going. The delayed gratification makes me appreciate it more anyway.

Yeah it's definitely going too far. It's a great way to stay up to date, and even entertain yourself.

But people have to be pretty dumb to go as far as texting in a car or walking down the stairs. That's just not smart and it actually is like they live for their dumb phones.

Yep, teenagers these days have become addicted to their phones so much. It's pretty depressing, really.

Last week I was at a restaurant eating dinner there when this group of teenage girls came in, most of 'em realized that there was no wifi there and they threw a fit, screaming and stuff. It angered me so much that people these days just look at their phones, gossiping about who kissed who last night. They finally left after being escorted by security.

I am kinda addicted to Facebook, but I don't get the whole phone fad. The other day I was hanging out with 4 buddies and we were sitting at the table, and all 3 of them were texting.. it really annoyed me.

If you go out with a friend or friends, and they're sitting there texting or on Facebook, then it's honestly time to get some new friends. I try to stay off my phone in public, and I might leave Facebook open as a tab on the computer, but I'm not impulsively checking it every five minutes.

I've deleted facebook and instagram for over a year now and I am glad. The friendships I have preserved are actual meaningful ones. I was really able to see the people who actually cared about me. Best decision ever.

I mostly use the chat function to keep up with others at this point. It's really useful for that since I moved and it's harder to keep up with friends. Otherwise I really don't give a shit about my wall or anything like that.

There are far too many people addicted to social media and cell phones. I happen to do a lot of computer work so I can't get away from being online a lot of the time. However, when I have some free time the last thing I want to do is sit here and watch pictures of my friends and their babies scroll by.

Congratulations, and I mean with with 100% seriousness. The people that want to stay in contact are the ones worth keeping in touch with, especially outside of social media. I believe most people see positive results from ditching social media more often than not.

i completely agree with the OP. can you go out nowadays without hearing a cell phone ring within 10 minutes . everything can be done on the phone now and they have become handheld computers. i meet people after months and they spend as much texting as they do talking with me. it really pisses me off

social media like facebook is fine but anything , even water, if drank too much can hurt you. my uncle has a daughter who wanted to open a facebook account . he swayed her from it and introduced her to more positive and fulfilling hobbies. she has real life friends and not some virtual network of bullshit.

I have deleted facebook a couple of times. I mainly use it to network certain things. I find facebook to be overrated. I find the same people and same bs all day every day on there. Its like if you miss some days on there you re not missing anything. I also feel the world needs to be more social in person. We need more face to face human interaction.

There are many people addicted to facebook and phones.
Just like you can get addicted to alcohol, drugs and smoking you can also get addicted to social media.
And it's something that is getting more common everyday.
