I haven't been to the movies for two years. i don't know if it's because I can just watch any movie online for free or the fact that the "Aurora Theater Shooting" was actually in my state, I feel skeptical to go at times and awfully would feel paranoid if i went. Than again, it better safe then sorry but I'm not trying to discourage you to go to the movies, I've always had a good experience going with my friends in the past though.

More quality in the movies can help, I was watching Zero Theorem yesterday and I fell asleep...

I agree. Going to the movies isn't obsolete yet no matter how bad the movies made are. I miss going to the movies these days because currently I live in a rural town where there's no theater. Since I'm not going to live in any city or town in future I suppose I'll have to live with watching DVDs.

I only go to the movies now to watch the big blockbusters with big explosions or giant fights, for other kinds of movies like comedies and such I just watch them at home.

I don't think going to the movies would ever become obsolete. Most people actually go to the movies to watch movies, whether it is because the movie screen is bigger and better in the theater with high quality sound or whether it is to go out on dates with friends. Yes, we do watch movies online rather than spending x amount of money to watch a movie but it would never be obsolete.

I go nowhere near the movies. The thing about it is my sister is the manager at the movies and i still dont want to go. The main i quit going is because the price. I can get in free, i just dont have the patience to sit there and watch a movie. I havent seen too many movies that i feel are worth going to the movies.

Also really like Imax for some of the big stomper movies like The Avengers and Godzilla.
I will go to the drive in its better for your money and enjoyment. Its a relaxed environment where you are in the comfort of your own car. I also like the fact that you can bring your food and snacks.

I dunno really. I mean, no matter how much we like to indulge and invest in bigger televisions, there's just something different about sitting down in a comfy chair, watching the previews, eating your cinema food, in front of a huge screen, you know?

I cannot remember the last time I went to the movies. There are several video shops in my place of residence that can get me any movie I want to watch at home. I do not need to get dressed up to go out just to watch a movie. Besides, buying a movie has the advantage of watching it again if I choose to. That said, I wouldn’t mind going to the movies with someone special once in a while.

Good point. I think a lot of people get turned off with the lack of quality in movies these days. They all seem to try so much to be too realistic that they end up just having to explain everything so the majority of e movie is usually taken up by people just talking.

I also have never been to a movie theater in ages. I now prefer to just download movies or buy pirated ones, since pirated DVD's are rampant in my area. I think movies are a luxury nowadays considering that you're gonna spend on food as well when you watch a movie, not to mention the rising prices of movie tickets.

I don't regularly visit my local theaters, or any theater at that. Going to a theater is a nice, occasional thing for me. I do find myself enjoying visits to a theater with family and friends. Going to the theater every day or every week would seem pretty unusual for a guy like me. I already have a computer, internet, cable, and patience. I can wait until movies release on Netflix, or stream on my cable TV. I don't have a preference of where I watch a movie. I always find myself having the same level of satisfaction at either location.

I still like to go to the movies! The atmosphere when you go is amazing, especially if you go on the first few nights of release. Sure you have to pay more to go there but it is enjoyable.
