There's no age that is too old in rap, an 80 year old can spit out rhymes and I'd still be ok with it.
Hah, that made a very funny mental image in my head, an 80 year old rapper just spitting out sick rhymes while people stand around him surprised.

Any form of music shouldn't have an age limit. The reality is the music business is youth oriented. Artists feel immense pressure to reach a young audience as a well as an older crowd to broaden their appeal. Young people have a short attention span nowadays, especially with the scene of social media. I say 35 in hip hop is the cut off age in terms of trying to be artist in the genre.

For Rap, I would say that no one should rap above the age of 50. I don't know why, I just feel that you're too old for it if you are 50. I can see a 40 year old rap, especially if they've been at it most of their lives, but older than that and I would think it's time to retire.![]()

I was ready to write that nobody past 40 needs to be rapping but some of you make good points. There really shouldn't be an age limit. However, when I think of rap I initially think of raps about money and sex peppered with foul language. But that is not what every rapper raps about. It makes me wonder what the aging rappers could bring to the future of rap. Maybe it will get a little deeper on the whole. Cool.

Why would you be too old to rap? If we were to get the big rappers of the original scene and asked them to do it again, would you call them out on being too old for it?

I don't think there's an age limit to rapping. You can rap even if you are in your forties and people still appreciate your music. Look at Jay-z and Diddy. These guys are well into their forties but their music is still appreciated. The Lyrics have to flow and you also need to look and dress the part.

I think when they put the last nail in the coffin is probably when. And even still, legends will still have left their voice for future generations.

Rap is ageless. You just have to be cool. If you can still be cool at 60, you can still rap. Rap is one of those genres that can go on forever. But you have to really be good for you to survive or for you to even pull off a good verse. But if you can, then rap is forever. No limit whatsoever

Music is music. If it puts a smile on your face or gets you motivated, then I say there is no age limit.

I agree with you 200%. Everyone is entitled to express their thoughts and emotions whichever way he or she wants to do it regardless of the age. No one ever defined rap exclusively for young people. Rap is about artistry. If you have your own style, and you are confident about it, then show it to the world. There will be people, like me, who would care to listen. I would love hear a full rap track from older people.

Eminem. That's really all that needs to be said. But I don't think there's an age limit, as long as they're decent but I wouldn't wanna hear an 80 year old if they sucked, then again I wouldn't want to hear any rapper that sucked. I.E. soulja boy.
