A friend or relative with some common sense would have done the trick. I do think that we could look at the parent who called as a fire starter. If people are that worried then stay inside and don't come out.

That is nonsense, they expect parents to be absolutely perfect when most of the cops are awful. People try to do the best they can and they need to realize that when children turn 18 that they can go out as they please.

I think that she should supervise her kid, but being arrested for it is a little far. Anybody could still come up and kidnap her/be a creepy predator in general with her parents not there.

Not many people are crazy enough to snatch a child from a park that has about 40 kids, the adults that accompanied some of them, and the other adults who just happen to be there. From the time kids are toddlers, they learn about stranger danger. If one is screaming for help, most of them will start screaming for their parents or pulling out their cell phones.

Communities are no longer safe. It's sad to say but as a young adult I know this. I know that if I am watching a child not to do this. So I feel as a mother she should know this. No that may be seen as a bit extreme but it would have been a bit extreme for that child to be kidnapped or murdered as well. It's a crazy world and people are sick and don't have kids interest in mind. A lot of people have things wrong with them and really don't know right from wrong, you need to protect the ones you love.

Its pretty messed up, but we live in a messed up society... I just read another story, about a bunch of guys raping a young girl that was mentally disabled, she only had the brain capacity of a 4 year old.. She only went to take the garbage out & they brought her to an apartment building laundromat, & they said men were lined up outside the door waiting for their turn... So as much as people think its safe out there.. There's a lot of delusional people out there that target young women, and its honestly sad.. But thats what society has come too now days... & the shifts at mcdonalds are usually 8 hours, thats a long time for a 9 year old to be alone in a park.

WTH..that was completely normal when i was a kid..Most of my childhood was never under supervision..Never know What this world is coming to.Very stupid that this happened to this hard-working mom.
Can't stop pitying the mother..She can't be jailed for this..sigh..

The story is quite sad. How can we fail to rewardba hardworking tax payer? Just shows, how our country promotes welfare when there is child endangerment. Instead, she should be awarded for trying to work and
take care of her daughter. Come on, Casey Anthony burried her child and received probation, all Debra did was let her daughter play at a park.

I think it depends where are you really. My parents probably wouldn't have given a shit where I went as long as I told them I was going to the park to hang out. Granted I lived probably two blocks away from it and it was a secret hideout for a lot of the stoner kids in school but that's why there was always a cop car roaming the area. Hell I was probably safer there than the park inside town due to that.

That's pretty much it, but if you were wealthy you could pay someone to take care of your kid. Nonsense this though.

Totally agree, what is the big deal? If anything the mother should be rewarded for her duties as a tax payer, worker, single mom, and person. I guess the government wants single mom's on welfare. At least then, she will have a baby sitter.
